| Biography | |
Darlou Gams, a native of southern Idaho, attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. After graduating with distinction, she enjoyed success as a freelance artist and illustrator before fulfilling her dream of becoming a full time fine artist.
Using her illustration experience as a foundation, she uses the figure as well as the landscape as a canvas to explore color, design, shape and texture. Influenced by tonalists Inness and Eaton, Darlou adds a contemporary perspective, weaving color and light to create a modern interpretation of the landscape.
I am inspired by the nature of light as an endless subject matter, both in landscape and the human form. Its ever changing quality is a lone constant that creates variations subtle and dramatic. My goal is to capture the beauty of that light, not simply a picturesque scene, but something much more intimate and personal.
Darlou lives on the seacoast of New Hampshire with her husband, son, and daughter. |
