The Walsingham Gallery in Newburyport will hold its second Women of Walsingham fundraiser, an evening of art, music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres to benefit Anna Jaques Hospital, on Saturday, November 19th from 6 to 8 pm, with a preview party from 5 to 6. The event will feature the works of 14 female artists whose works will be sold for the benefit of the hospital. Ten of the artists have created works of art specifically for this benefit. Judith Pumfrey, winner of the Grand Prize in the Masterpiece Elite Salon and numerous other awards, has donated her work “At the Lily Pond” for auction at the event. The painting, done in Judith’s contemporary American Impressionist style, is valued at $3500.
A private champagne reception will be held from 5 to 6 pm. Tickets to the reception include the the opportunity to meet nine of the artists, preview the show and view the never-before-seen works of art. Among the exhibiting artists are Beatrice Dauge-Kaufmann, an oil painter and rising star in contemporary art who has received the rank of artist member in the Copley Society of Art, Carol FitzSimonds, a printmaker whose work can be found in the Smithsonian National museum of American History collection, and Anne Beaulieu, a sculptor who works in stone, alabaster and objects tossed by the sea including weathered bits of shell. Other exhibiting artists include Judy Metcalfe, watercolor, Lisa Noonis, oil painting, Linda Preble McVay, sculpture, Sarah Seabury Ward, sculpture, B.J. Wayne, oil painting, Melissa Post van der Burg, oil painting and Darlou Gams, oil painting.
“We are grateful to the Walsingham Gallery for their commitment to the hospital, and their belief that philanthropic support of our mission is important,” said Sarah Gnerre, director of development for the hospital. “This is a luxurious way in which to spend an evening in support of Anna Jaques.”
Patron level admission is $125 and includes admission to the private champagne reception with the artists and a copy of the exhibition book. General admission to the show at 6 pm is $25. The Walsingham Gallery will donate 10% of the proceeds to Anna Jaques Hospital to benefit patient care and support women’s wellness programming at Anna Jaques.
